We were originally attracted to alpacas because of their beauty, rarity and rich history. We have also discovered that alpacas seem to possess a unique ability to unite people with similar goals and values. Our involvement in the "wonderful world of alpacas" has provided an exciting opportunity for friendship, travel, and personal enrichment. One of the principles which guide everything we do at Chesapeake Alpacas is our belief that the key to success lies in attention to detail. From the carefully maintained pastures to the well-kept barn facilities, this attention becomes obvious. Alpacas are always the center of our focus, and their health and care our main concern. Our herd comprises approximately equal numbers of huacayas and suris ranging in color from pure white to true black and includes well known, proven bloodlines from Peru, Bolivia and Chile. We recognize the necessity of having alpacas of top quality. To achieve that standard we adhere to a highly selective breeding program, which includes carefully matching males to females in our never-ending attempt to improve each generation.
